Adding Tags to XML files

We would like to be able to add tags to XML files that weren't present in the original source file. This is possible for other formats, and I know it can be dangerous to introduce new tags to such coded files as it can cause them to break but we feel this would be a good feature and useful for us going forwards. Attached is a screenshot to highlight my point, the option to insert tags is blocked.
