Excel sentence segmentation and character limits for cells
Hi,
How does the Translation Editor handle it when there is a character limit for one large Excel cell that contains multiple sentences and that is segmented?
The single segments don't have a character limit each but since the cell as a whole does have one, will the user get a warning about exceeding the total character limit?
Thank you,
Anneta

Hi Anneta,
How did you set this up in the system:
- what are your document format settings for Excel when it comes to taking into account the SRX rules?
- have the character limitations been read from the Excel during import and how did you configure it exactly? Or did you manually set the limitations in the QA profile? If you read out the values from the Excel and everything is correctly set, then Wordbee will import each segment from this big cell as one stand-alone segment. The numbering of the cells will be 1, 1.1, 1. 2 etc.. The maximum lengths value is assigned to the first segment and for the others it doesn't say anything. When the QA check is done, it checks all the segments from the cell (1, 1.1, 1.2 etc.) against the total value of the cell assigned to segment 1. If it's too long the user gets a QA warning/error.
I hope this makes it clearer for you.
Kind regards,Mareike

Hi Mareike,
Thank you very much for the explanation! I couldn't find the information in the documentation hence my question.
We just tested it and it behaves as you describe with the settings we made, so all is good :)
Thank you very much!
Anneta
