batch Word/Excel import into TM
We have between 350-400 bilingual (source-target) Word files in each of six target languages. Each file is a multicolumn table, with source text consistently in column 2 and target text consistently in column 3.
We have a method for converting these Word files to Excel, but we'd like to know if there is any way to do a batch import of those Word/Excel files into a translation memory, rather than having to import 2100+ files one-by-one.

There is no need to do this document by document:
1. Zip all the Excel files
2. Upload zip to project
3. Right click file in the project to unzip files
4. Select all files (or parent folder), right click and mark for online
5. Export the project memory to TMX or copy/consolidate into another memory.
This sequence assumes that you configure a multilingual Excel filter. This filter permits to import Excel files where specific columns contain text in different languages.
Hope this helps,
Stephan

We'll try it and report back!

Please do not attach memories to the project and, ideally, disable counts of repetitions in the word count profile. This then speeds up the whole process.
(If you are frequently processing huge amounts of data, you might be interested in Beebox. It is designed to efficiently prepare and process huge amounts of data prior to feeding final results into Wordbee. If interested, let me know or have a look at http://documents.wordbee.com )

This worked great except for one wrinkle - the English text was parsed into subsegments based on end punctuation, but the target was not. We have enabled SRX rules for this document profile.

You might want to disable segmentation altogether. This can be done in the Excel filter settings.
Comments:
Without wanting to point to the future too often: Beebox already includes automatic text alignment and there are places in Wordbee where this is done too. When adding Excel files like you do, the alignment process is not yet there. It is something we will add towards the end of the year.
