How do you pre-lock segments for your translators?
I think I'm missing something basic here.
When I upload documents, and then lock segments in the English file, shouldn't these locks be applied to the rest of the languages?
What's the proper way to lock specific segments so that my translators will not be able to edit them?

Hi Leon,
You are right, locking segments should affect all language combinations. There are different ways to lock segments. It can be done at a segment level (by clicking on the top right corner of the segment), but the best solutions remains to batch lock segments. You can then first filter the segments and click on "Actions" to lock the seleected segments. Finally, the wordcount configuration lets you lock segments per category (in context matches (110%), exact matches (100%),...),...

Hi Brahim,
I think the locks I applied to the English file did not apply to the other languages, that's why I posted the question originally.
I'll check this again and let you know.
Thanks,
Leon

Hi,
Also - had another thought. Locking segments is not always about TM matches.
For me it's usually code bits, ID strings or other texts that I can't filter out in an automated way. I'd like to be able to manually lock such strings, and still have them not costed.
Maybe add an optional "Lock strings" step/link when configuring a project?

Hi Leon,
you are saying you see entire segments with just code and no text in them? If so it's probably due more to incompatibility of the file with Wordbee, correct me if I am wrong. What file are you trying to work with?

Hi Christian,
If only life would be so simple! :)
We have a very unruly development team who (shockingly!) don't do everything the way I need it to be.
So, occasionally I need to work with files that are not 100% Wordbee-friendly, and I get strings I want to lock out.
Also, it's not always about code. I might have a specific text string I want to leave as-is (a quote, a marketing motto, an address, that kind of stuff).
