Wordcounts of files in folders

Hi everyone, 

Hope you're all well! I had a question about getting wordcounts by folder. I have a project that has several files going from English to Greek, Croatian, and Hungarian. But not all files are going to all languages. Only some are going to Greek, only some to Croatian, etc. 

What I want to avoid having to do is select each of the files manually on the word counts page.

I attempted to create subfolders as seen in the screenshot for each target language. 

However, when I select scan only documents in the same folder, it still scans all the documents.

Is this because it is going by parent folder and not subfolder? And is there an easy way where I can have WordBee automatically find the wordcount for only files intended to translated into a certain language?

For example, I want to just get the word count for all files going into Croatian without having to manually select all the files, but to get no word count for any other project files.

  Your setup will work after one little tweak. As you see the option "Scan documents in the same folder only" is an option to leverage the project memory. That is: the word count will only count repetitions from documents in the same folder for repetitions but it will still count all documents (because you ticked them in the step before).

  An example: If you have the line "Hello World" in the first file of the first folder and another time in the first file of the second folder then the system will not count this as a repetition if you have this option selected.

  With projects where not all files are translated into all languages I'd always recommend to put the files in separate language folders and use this leveraging option as you don't want to mix files for different target languages in the word count somehow.

  Now there's still the question how you can easily select only the files in a particular folder for a word count in the first place. For this you can simply open the search in the "Word count" tab.

  

  Once the search is open you can search for the "Document name". The document name also reflects the folder structure in Wordbee. So when you enter the folder name, in my example "Hungarian" or the folder path "Hungarian\", you see all the documents in that particular folder. Now you can apply a word count exclusively to the shown selection.

  

  Alternatively you can also use Codyt projects for this type of work. In Codyt projects you can select the documents and mark them for online translation for different language pairs. In that way you have them separated and also the word count is simplified.
