Recognising spaces in search requests
AnsweredHi all,
it would be more efficient if WB could recognise spaces in search requests. For example, sometimes I need to find only an abbreviation, such as "ER". In Word, I would search for " ER", i.e., include a space in the search request. In WB, this is not possible, given that it shows all words containing "er" too, and then it takes much more time to wade through all the search results. So my request: could you make WB recognise spaces in search requests?

Dear Dorine,
Thanks for contacting us about this matter. I think your request shows that we hide some of our features a little bit too much. It is possible to use an exact search that only shows you the abbreviations you need. The basic search bar is only a first entry point for a simplified search. In order to conduct a search with more options, you can go to the search bar and expand it.
Once expanded you can find the category "Find text". In the search bar right next to it you can enter your search phrase (in your example "ER") and afterwards you click the little menu item on the right. Here you can either tick the option "Phrase" or "Case sensitive".
If "Phrase" is active it only shows you occurrences that are 100% identical to your keyword. So if you type "ER" you will only find words that consist of the two letters "er" or "ER", but not all words that contain the letter combination "er".
If you make the search case sensitive then you'd find words that contain the letters "ER" in capitals. So you would find "ER" but not results like "errand" (unless it is written in capitals "ERRAND").
Of course you can also enable both options at the same time.
I hope this little guide helps! If you have any questions, please let me know.
Cheers,
Maik
