I don't see the "Add comment" option mentioned in WM-11088. Can you point me in the right direction?

    Hi Andy,

Please note that this release was made available for you this morning (CET). At the time you posted this comment the release was only available for our Swiss clients.

To your question: There are two ways to get these xliff exports for translation in a third-party CAT tool. The first way is through the CAT editor. If you open the editor for a specific document, hover over the "Document" tab and then over "Export". In the submenu select "Xliff".

A window will open up where users can define the language pair for the export (as xliffs are always bilingual). If you hit "Export" a configuration screen opens up where users can define exactly which meta information they would like to embedd into the xliff. Here select "Add comment" for the target language before you export the xliff file. Only then will comments made in a third-party tool be imported back to the Wordbee CAT editor.

This setting has been in Wordbee for ages. We discussed this whole setup process within our Product Team and decided that it is far too complicated and error prone. That's why we defined a follow up task with the reference number WM-11269 which we hope to release end of this month. We will get rid of the "Add comments" option altogether so users are unable to choose. Instead we make the option to add and reimport comments the default behavior for all users. That means users don't have to think about checking the "Add comments" box anymore. Furthermore, we will also allow status updates made in third-party tools (as long as they follow the OASIS xliff 1.2 standards).

The second way to export an xliff for offline translation is through the Jobs dashboard. Users can go to their Jobs dashboard, tick the items they'd like to export and hit the button "Xliff / Word". If you export the file here the "Add comments" option is always enabled.

I hope this helps. If you have any questions, please let me know!
    Cheers,
    Maik

Fantastic! Thanks for the detailed explanation.

Is there any way to import comments from xliff files that were exported prior to this release?

    Dear Andy,

It should be possible for files exported through the job dashboard and files that were exported from the editor with the "Add comment" option ticked. In all other cases the import will not work as desired.

    Cheers,
    Maik
